Obituary of Keith R. Smith
Keith R. Smith, 73, of Colonia, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway. Mr. Smith was born in Portland, Jamaica to the late Reuben and Evadnie (Hamilton) Smith. He came to the U.S. in 1971 and had resided in Perth Amboy before moving to Colonia over twenty years ago.
Mr. Smith was a self-employed auto mechanic. He owned and operated Keith Smith Heavy Duty Truck Repair in Linden until his retirement in 2008. Prior to that he had been employed as a foreman for Perth Amboy Springworks for ten years.
He is survived by his loving wife, of forty-three years, Carlene C. Smith, his two sons: Basil Ricardo Smith of Portland, Jamaica, and Keith C. Smith Jr. of Colonia, three daughters: Medeline Bishop and her husband Carl of New Brunswick, Ruchelle R. Smith of Long Island, NY and Lois L. Vuocolo and her husband Anthony of South Toms River, his three siblings: Leonard Franklin of Portland, Jamaica, Curnell Lobban of Birmingham, England and Ralston Smith of Portland, Jamaica, seventeen grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave. in Fords from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 pm.
