Obituary of Emery J. Lucas
Emery J. Lucas, 94, of Linden, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Hospice Center of the VA New Jersey Health Care System in Bernards Township. Mr. Lucas was born in Perth Amboy to the late John and Mary Lucas and had lived in Linden for the last fifty-seven years.
He was a US Army Veteran, serving as a sergeant in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He was a member of the VFW Post 6090 of Fords.
Mr. Lucas was employed as a meat inspector by Pathmark in Woodbridge for twenty-seven years before his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Linden.
He was also a Fourth Degree and Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 299 of Perth Amboy.
Emery was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary T. (Chizmadia) Lucas in 2003. He was also predeceased by two sisters and seven brothers.
He is survived by his son Kenneth J. Lucas of Plainfield, his daughter Barbara A. Lucas Santino and her husband Kenneth of Jackson, and two step-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass which will be held 10 am Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 220 East Blancke Street, Linden. Interment of ashes will follow at the Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Fords. Arrangements are under the direction the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc. 531 New Brunswick Ave. Fords.
