Obituary of Ann D. Hopkins
Ann Donohue Cummings Hopkins, "Nana" , 79, of Menlo Park Terrace, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the JFK Haven Hospice in Edison. Mrs. Hopkins was born in Greenock, Scotland to the late John and Agnes (Bell) Cummings and had lived in Menlo Park Terrace for the last forty-eight years.
Ann was employed as an office clerk by Fridgedaire in Edison for twenty-eight years before retiring in 2004.
Ann's life revolved around her family. She was the epitome of a gracious host for every holiday gathering. Her loved ones meant the world to her.
Ann was a devout and faithful catholic. She was a member of the Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph "PopPop" Hopkins in 2010. Prior to his passing, they loved travelling to Atlantic City and enjoyed going to the races together often.
In addition to her husband, Ann was also predeceased by her two sisters: Agnes and Ina and her brother Jim.
She is survived by her son: Scott J. Hopkins and his wife Milagrosa of Metuchen, her daughter: Sharon Doherty and her husband Bill of Edison, five grandchildren; Kristine, Lisa, Brian, Wynell and Shane, her brother: John Cummings of Scotland, her sister: Mary Haggerty of England, and many beloved family members abroad.
Nana will be sorely missed by all, but never forgotten.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral mass Tuesday morning, 9:00 am at the Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords. Private Cremation services will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave. in Fords. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff of the JFK Haven Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
