Obituary of Floyd Taylor
Floyd "Pop" Taylor, 85, of Hopelawn, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at the J.F.K. Medical Center in Edison. Mr. Taylor was born in Union to the late Charles and Anna Taylor and had previously lived in Iselin before moving to Hopelawn forty-seven years ago.
Mr. Taylor was a US Air Force Veteran serving as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War.
He was employed by the Woodbridge Township Board of Education as a custodian before retiring in 1995.
Mr. Taylor was a life member of the Hopelawn Engine Co. #1 District 8, where he served as Chief in 1979. He was a member of the United Exempts of Keasbey, Fords & Hopelawn , the NJ State Fireman's Association, the Woodbridge Township Fire Officers Association and also of the American Legion Edison Post # 324.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was also predeceased by his sister Marion Wilton.
He is survived by his loving wife, of fifty seven years, Ruth (Kuzmjak) Taylor, his two sons: William Taylor and wife Heike of Morbach, Germany and Steven Taylor of Hopelawn, his daughter Arlene Garofalo and husband Thomas also of Hopelawn, his four grandchildren: David Garofalo, Kimberly Garofalo, Melissa Taylor and Mandy Taylor and also by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 10 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave. Fords. Interment will follow in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodbridge. Visitation hours will be held Friday from 2-4 and & 7-9 pm.
