Obituary of John Tariska
John Tariska, 96, of Edison, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 at JFK Haven Hospice in Edison. Mr. Tariska was born in Perth Amboy to the late Gabriel and Ida (Fuszesi) Tariska and had previously lived in Perth Amboy before moving to Edison over 50 years ago.
Mr. Tariska was a US Army Veteran of World War II.
He was employed as a quality control inspector by Ford Motor Company in Edison for over 30 years before retiring in 1980. He was also a member of, and the Bargaining Committeeman for, the U.A.W. Local 980 of Metuchen.
John was an avid bowler, bowling with several leagues over the years at Carolier Lanes. He was a great sports enthusiast and had played semi-pro baseball in his youth in Perth Amboy.
He was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Perth Amboy.
John was predeceased by his sister Irene Czebrowski and three brothers Gabriel, Alexander and Albert.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 73 years, Anna (Vargo) Tariska, his daughter Janet A. Tariska-Neubert and husband Albert of Woodstock, NY, his son Robert Tariska of Edison, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday 10:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Hopelawn. Visitation hours will be held Thursday from 7-9 pm. Rev. Andras Szasz will hold a wake service Thursday evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
