Obituary of John Charles Takacs
John Charles Takacs, 88 years young and resided in California passed away Thursday, 2/24/22 at his home. John was born in New Jersey to Rose and Charles Takacs. John was in the Army and served during the Korean War. He was very proud of his 36 years of service with Chevron. Starting in Perth Amboy, NJ and then being transferred to California in 1977 to continue his wonderful and fulfilling career. He loved being active by playing softball, bowling, golf, and darts during most of his life. John and Carmella enjoyed traveling including several trips to Europe and 10 cruises with family and friends. They had countless trips to Reno and Atlantic City. They played at Golf Courses all over the US and Canada. He was a lifelong member of the Iselin, NJ VFW Post 2636, member of SIRS #116. Family time was very important to him and that was his priority. John is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Rose Takacs and his siblings, starting from Elizabeth, Mary, Barbara, Charles, Rose, Ann, Joseph, Irene, Edward, and Mimmie. He was the youngest of the 11 children. John is survived by his loving spouse of 63 years, Carmella. His children Laura, Carole (Joe), 3 grandchildren Kevin (Angela), Lauren (Alex) and Shannon. His 2 great grandchildren Audrey, Connor and a future one on the way. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and many friends that were part of the family. John was always the life of the party and made everyone laugh. The parties always ended with him singing "On top of Ole Smokey". He was a great role model and father figure for all that knew him. He had a sense of humor we all loved and most of the time we got his jokes. He had a passion for watching western movies, Jeopardy and watching the NY Yankees and NY Giants win.
He has left a hole in our lives and will be missed very much.
Services will begin Monday 10:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. The funeral service will follow in the Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodbridge followed by the entombment. Visitation hours will be held Sunday from 4 - 8 pm at the funeral home.
