Obituary of Gerald Joseph Freeman Sr.

Gerald Joseph Freeman, Sr., 73, of Avenel, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at the J.F.K. Medical Center in Edison. Mr. Freeman was born in Miami, FL to the late Joseph L. and Judith Freeman and was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge Township. Mr. Freeman was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam War. He was the owner and manager of Franie's Kids Hair Salon in Fords. He had previously been employed by Bell Atlantic for many years. Surviving are his loving wife, of fifty years, Frances (Mongiove) Freeman, his son: Gerald Freeman Jr. of Avenel, his daughter: Judith James also of Avenel, his two grandchildren Briseis and Dallas, his step-father Joseph Alimonti, his Aunt Rose and Uncle Steve Vrabel of Sayreville, his Aunt Annie Progocky and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday 9:30 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 10:00 am mass at the St. Andrew's Church in Avenel. Private cremation services will follow. Visitation hours will be held Sunday from 4pm to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Wounded Warriors or to the Woodbridge Animal Shelter.
