Obituary of Adrian "Sal" K. Salmorin
Adrian K. (Sal) Salmorin, 86, of Fords, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 peacefully at his home due to complications of COPD. Mr. Salmorin was born March 14, 1934 in Newark to the late Adriano and Gladys (Ellis) Salmorin and was raised in the Down Neck section on Gotthart St.
He was a graduate of East Side High School, Class of 1952.
Sal was a US Navy Veteran of Korean war serving aboard the aircraft carrier, Coral Seas.
He was retired from Sears in New Brunswick.
He was a former member of the Our Lady of Hungary RC Church, where he had served as a church trustee. He was a member of the Holy Name, the Fellowship Club and also called Bingo for many years. Sal also ran the Atlantic City bus trips for the church.
He was currently a member of the Good Shepherd Parish-Holy Rosary Church.
In addition to his parents, Sal was also predeceased by his sisters Gladys and Margaret, his brother Albert and his twin brother George.
Surviving are his loving wife, of forty seven years, Bonnie (Lukacs) Salmorin, his children Kenneth (Michelle), and Teri both of Charleston, SC and Lisa (Joe) of Tampa, FL., his grandchildren; Jennifer, Alexa, Elena, Jordan, Adam and Mason, his three great grandchildren, his brother Norman of Manahawkin, his former wife Florence (Howard) Mason of Charleston, SC and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his good friends at the Colonial Restaurant in Fords.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 10:00 am mass in the Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn. Interment will follow in the Our Lady Of Hungary Cemetery in Fords. Visitation hours will be held Tuesday from 2 pm to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Parish.
