Obituary of Yolanda A. Tkacs
Yolanda Tkacs (nee Facendo), 90, of Fords, passed away on November 4, 2020. Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband Andrew (1991), her son Robert (1979), her sisters Renee Kendzia, Antoinette Facendo and Dolores Abramik, and her brothers Matthew Facendo and Joseph Facendo. She is survived by her daughter Andrea Barlett, her sisters Alfonsina Leonard and Sr. Rosemarie Facendo MPF, her brother Michael Facendo, and many nieces and nephews.
Yolanda was born November 24, 1929 in Perth Amboy, and she lived in Fords since 1956. Yolanda was a teacher for many years. She began her teaching career in Scotch Plains and spent the majority of her career at the Most Holy Rosary School in Perth Amboy. Yolanda was loved by the multitudes of students she taught, whom she would often delightedly encounter around town throughout the years. After her teaching career, Yolanda worked at the Fords Branch of the Woodbridge Public Library. Her work at the library complemented her love of books, and she continued to enjoy reading all through her retirement. She also loved music, and was a member of the Olphonics Chorus for its entire duration. Yolanda always had a ready smile for everyone she met, and she was blessed with longstanding dear friends, among them Cathy Schmidt Nicholls, Carol Hemington, and the late Robert Schmidt.
Private cremation services were held under the direction of the Mitruska Funeral Home in Fords. A graveside service will be announced at a later date, for all those who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Yolanda's name may be made to the JBJ Soul Kitchen, 207 Monmouth St. Red Bank, NJ 07701.
