A sad day, the loss of my oldest friend; we met when we were just 8 years old. 'Charles' back then, Chuck already possessed the kernels of a quick wit, keen intellect, and wry humor - he would grow to become the true gentleman scholar. I remember he had us all stumping for Jimmy Carter when we were barely teens, he held faith and interest in political science, civil discourse and our systems of governing - his ideals are still much needed and sorely tested today. Whether it was his set of Lincoln cents, or Beatles albums, his collections were always well-organized, super-neat, and of course totally complete. I fully expected to someday read that Chuck had been elected overwhelmingly as Senator of the great state of New Jersey! He won an essay contest in Jr. High, and it was featured in our yearbook that year. The world has lost a force for good and integrity too too soon; Chuck was loved and respected and he will be missed. Alice, I am so sorry for your loss especially, I know he was deeply grateful for your guidance and support over his difficult years-long fight for each day that he might remain above the roses. - Lex
