Obituary of Wendel & Rita Horvath
Rita Marie (Nagy) Horvath, 83, and her beloved husband Wendel Horvath, 85, of Fords, passed away within hours of each other on December 1, 2019. Rita was born in Perth Amboy and Wendel in Varoslod, Hungary and they had lived their married life together in Fords for the last sixty-one years.
They were long time members of the Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords.
Rita was employed as a bookkeeper and marketing manager for AT&T in Piscataway for twenty years before retiring in 2000. Wendel was a ground clerk for Continental Airlines in Newark for ten years before he also retired in 2000. Previously, Wendel had been employed by Algro Knitting Mills in Milltown for twenty years. In their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling together to Hungary and Germany.
Rita was predeceased by her brother William J. Nagy, and Wendel was predeceased by his brother Joseph Horvath and his sister Martha Connolly,
They are survived by their two daughters: Christine Horvath of Morrisville, NC and Suzanne Ernest and husband David of Riverview, FL, and Wendel's brothers Istvan Horvath and Tibor Horvath, both of Hungary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30pm at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave. in Fords. Visitation hours will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm Saturday afternoon. Private interment services will be held at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery in Arneytown on a future date.
