Obituary of Elizabeth E. Kosmyna
Elizabeth E. Kosmyna, 97, of Perth Amboy, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Mrs. Kosmyna was born in Perth Amboy to the late Michael and Rose Orszag and was a lifelong resident of the city.
She was employed as a seamstress for Cadillac Shirt Company for many years prior to working at Individualized Custom Shirts in Perth Amboy for twenty years before retiring in 1972.
Elizabeth enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, travelling to Hawaii and to Hungary, Atlantic City bus trips and Calendar Dinners at the churches. She loved arts and crafts and taught night classes at Perth Amboy High School, sharing her talents.
She was a member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish - Our Lady of Hungary Church in Perth Amboy. She was also a member of the OLH Seniors Organization, the OLH Altar Rosary Society and the Simpson's Methodist Church Seniors Organization. Mrs. Kosmyna was named the 1990 Our Lady of Hungary Church Mother of the Year.
Elizabeth served as a Committeewoman for the City of Perth Amboy for twenty five years. She was a longtime election day Poll Clerk, and had served as general secretary for the Thomas Jefferson Democratic Association and Ladies' Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her husband Stephen in 2008, her son Stephen T. in 2013, her son-in-law Raymond Supp in 2016 and also by four sisters; Rose Swallick, Ann Zanat, Mary Panick and Veronica Glazer, and two brothers, Michael and Peter Orsag.
She is survived by her daughter: Ilona Supp of Colonia, her granddaughter Laura Supp and grandson Derek Supp, her niece Dorothy Panick and nephew John Kosmyna and his wife Mary. She also leaves behind her devoted neighbors José and Emilia Hernandez and lifelong friends; Mary C. Molnar, Bob and Christine Davis and Helen Baumgartner.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Malvin Keller and the nurses and staff, especially Ted on the fifth floor, at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 10:30 am mass in the Most Holy Name of Jesus - Our Lady of Hungary Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in the Our Lady Of Hungary Cemetery in Fords. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
